Happy mother’s day 2019!

Being a Mother is a blessing. It can be hard work but all the I Love You’s, kisses on the cheek and hugs make it all worth it.

My son was born a little under 5 lbs and was ready to leave the hospital before me because Preeclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) had its way with me.  23 hours in labor and still had a C-section.  I was high as a kite on pain meds and can’t remember every single detail but the scar remains.  He is my forever belated Bornday gift, being born 5 days after mine.

He has an old soul and a kind heart, I am proud to be the mother of this cool guy.

Co-parenting is another challenge but one I’m still learning to get through.  Communication is everything and I’m constantly learning that people can’t read my mind and that everything has to be discussed to confirm everyone’s on the same page.  I’m a work in progress.  I appreciate Bryson’s dad for trying to work together on this.

I love the look in my son’s eyes when he gets to see me sing/act, when he heard I got 1st Runner Up for Ms. Full Figured NC, when he helps mommy get ready for a makeup client or tell me that I need to give someone my business card.  I love that he sees me going after my dreams and what goes into it.  Although I dislike the time I get to have with him because schedule can get crazy, I do love the fact that he tells me I’ll always be his mommy and even reminds me to take off my makeup.

Being a mother is a constant on the job training that never ends.  I am grateful to have my mother to call and ask anything when I’m feeling like I have no idea what to do.  She is my rock and there’s no greater love than one of a mother.  Through all the good and bad decisions, my mother supports me whether she agrees or not.  She holds my hand and prays consistently.  A mother never stops worrying about her child, even though I’m in my 37th Chapter, she still wonders if I’m okay and taking care of myself.  I’m sure I’ll be the same with my son.

Mother’s Day isn’t just for people to get you cards, flowers and gifts.  Although it’s nice, use this Hallmark created day and every other day to reflect on the blessing you have been given.  Whether it started through 9 months of pregnancy or placed in your life, you are a mother.  Don’t forget what an awesome, yet challenging task you have been given but take it head on and don’t give up.  You are enough and have been blessed with the greatest gift, cherish it and know that you are not the first to have this career of being a Mom.  There’s always help available from another mom who has gone through it or knows someone who has.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms whether it’s your first or you’ve got tenure in this.  Enjoy this day and each day after, you deserve it!

Make sure you come out and support Bryson and I in our first fashion show together: Summer Daze

HAPPY MAMA’S DAY 2019!!

April showers bring may flowers!

4 months into 2019 and what have I accomplished? I’m still trekking forward to building more and more clientele because being a Makeup Artist is truly a passion of mine. As many of my followers know, I love the arts; anything to do with beauty and entertainment- I’m in! I have some things brewing and I believe they will come into fruition…just wait and see!

In January, I jumped in the water and auditioned for a play with Legacy Theatre Productions. I hadn’t been on the stage in an acting role since 2011 maybe. I’ve had a couple scenes in some amazing films such as, “It Takes A Village” and “It Takes A Village 2;” but the instant gratification of being on the stage is a totally different thing. I was cast as Roberta in “Sistas: The Musical,” it felt so good to be on that stage. I loved my character and I love my cast. Roberta is a ‘no nonsense, I don’t care what you think, I’m going to tell you how it is’ kind of character. She says what is on her mind and means every part of it. I was able to connect with some amazing ladies with amazing talents. K. Alana, Gbale, Khalilah, Tiffany J and Dara connected from the very beginning and most definitely have a Sistahood. We received direction by Kenya Phifer- Jones and we all have such an amazing bond that can never be broken. Big thanks to Sydnii, Ms. Laverne, Aundrea, and all of the others who had a hand in putting this sold out show up.

You know a canvas is never too far away, so of course I still had clients. I was working from 9-530, running to Sistas rehearsal and keeping clients’ appointments on the weekends until show time. I am so appreciative of my clients! Those that travel to me and those that I hit the road for. You are truly appreciated!

Going from March to April has given me time to rest and see what’s next for me. I’ve had time to chill with my son and my sister, and bounce ideas of here and now and what future goals still have to be obtained. NiSi’s Eyes Makeup Artistry is booking for the rest of April and June. If you need an appointment for any time this year or 2020, I suggest you go ahead and #BookMeNow!

Two weeks from now (April 22nd), I will begin my 37th Chapter on this earth. What oh what shall I do? I’ve gotten thoughts for a photo shoot, party, travel; money plays apart in it all. Please provide some ideas, I’d love to hear them.

May 18th, I’ll be hitting the runway with my son for the Summer Daze Fashion Show, it’s been a while but it feels good to strut my stuff. 2018’s Ms. Full Figured NC 1st Runner Up is rocking the runway for the full figured ladies and showing that even after you gain the title of “Mom,” you don’t lose your phenomenal woman inside.

Thank for your continued support! If you’d like to see me start my YouTube videos back up or have questions or need tutorials on certain things, please comment and let me know.

April Showers bring May flowers…new clients, new experiences, new look, new dreams.
